About Trust

The Khasgi (Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Charities) Trust

The Khasgi Trust is a charitable organization established after the passing of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in 1795 to manage the religious and philanthropic endowments she founded. These include temples, ghats, and dharamshalas spread across India. The trust continues her legacy by overseeing these sacred spaces and ensuring their upkeep.

One of the most notable sites managed by the trust is the Ahilyeshwar Temple in Maheshwar, built by Ahilyabai Holkar herself. Situated on the banks of the Narmada River, this temple is a beautiful example of Maratha architecture and devotion. The trust has also facilitated restoration efforts in collaboration with organizations like the World Monuments Fund India.

Ahilyabai Holkar, a revered queen of the Holkar dynasty, was known for her administrative acumen and deep religious devotion. Through the Khasgi Trust, her vision lives on, supporting various charitable initiatives, maintaining heritage sites, and preserving India’s spiritual and cultural legacy.
